This is a 39-week EEG Technologist assignment based in Long Beach, California, supporting a VA hospital environment through a government bid contract. The start date is as soon as possible, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced EEG professional ready for a quick transition into a meaningful role serving veterans. Long Beach is a vibrant coastal city known for its beautiful waterfront, walkable urban neighborhoods, and easy access to both the ocean and greater Southern California. The area offers a mild, Mediterranean-style climate year-round, making it ideal for outdoor activities before or after your shifts. You can explore the scenic shoreline, enjoy the famous waterfront attractions, dine at a wide range of restaurants, or take advantage of cultural venues, museums, and local events. With convenient access to Los Angeles and other nearby communities, Long Beach provides the amenities of a major metropolitan area while maintaining a relaxed, coastal feel. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated care team providing EEG services to a diverse veteran patient population. You can expect to perform routine and potentially specialized EEG procedures in accordance with established protocols and physician orders. Responsibilities may include setting up and calibrating EEG equipment, preparing and educating patients, applying electrodes, monitoring studies, recognizing and documenting clinically significant events, and assisting physicians with interpretation support. On-call coverage will be required, and you should be comfortable responding to urgent or emergent EEG requests when needed. A typical week will involve approximately 40 hours of work, with shift and hours to be determined based on department needs. The department may support both inpatient and outpatient settings, which can include routine EEGs, portable studies, and studies performed in critical care or acute settings, depending on the service line. You will be expected to maintain high standards of patient safety, infection control, and documentation accuracy, while collaborating closely with nurses, neurologists, and other care providers. This assignment offers the opportunity to deepen your experience in a federal healthcare setting, enhance your EEG and neurodiagnostic skills, and contribute to a mission-driven environment caring for veterans.
