About the Position

Job Title: Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift: 0900-2130 Monday, Tuesday, Friday Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology required; relevant acute care experience preferred License: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Must-Have: National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification preferred Description: This role facilitates physician performance during invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. The Surgical Technician handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures. The Technician ensures quality patient care during operative procedures and constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Essential Functions: Verifies the surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings the patient to the assigned operating room. Passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures. Anticipates the surgeon's needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with the circulator before the operation and before the incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings and secures them after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for the procedure. Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure. Helps drape the sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with room cleaning for turnover. Participates in prepping the room for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Organizational Requirements: All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable.
