Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm with rotating Saturdays (approximately 1 per month, 7:45am–3:00pm)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all screening, diagnostic, invasive breast imaging, and DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) procedures according to established protocols for physician interpretation
• Assist the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and that informed consent is obtained by the performing physician
• Correlate and document patient clinical history with the procedure and convey relevant information to the licensed provider prior to examination
• Select and operate breast imaging equipment, including Hologic systems, and apply appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images
• Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to the patient, self, and others throughout all mammographic procedures
• Provide patient education and discharge instructions, and participate in departmental quality assessment and improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• ARRT certification and registration in both Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) — credentials must be in hand
• Active Virginia state licensure — must be in hand at time of placement
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a registered mammography technologist
• Experience performing breast biopsies
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (required prior to direct patient care)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with bone density (DEXA) scanning
• Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited radiologic technology program
• Familiarity with Hologic mammography equipment
