About the Position
Job Title: Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist Profession: Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialty: Clinical Laboratory Science Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Rotating Shift Auto Offer Hours per Shift: As required Experience: Minimum of 2 years relevant CLS experience License: Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in state of employment Certifications: Current certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Credentialing Agency for Labs is preferred Description: Serves as technical consultant and direct supervisor of laboratory personnel. Manages the performance of all laboratory testing. Develops and maintains policies, standards, and quality control practices. Oversees lab safety and maintenance. Acts as a resource medical technologist in assigned section. Has the responsibility to ensure that the laboratory meets all accreditation requirements and applicable standards. Oversees all laboratory testing and coordinates point of care testing. Reviews and evaluates the validity and accuracy of test results. Functions as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist when needed. Identifies education and competency needs among laboratory personnel. Conducts training programs on instrumentation, technology, and procedures as needed. Establishes the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including precision, accuracy, and reference ranges. Evaluates new developments in laboratory instrumentation, procedures, reagents, and automation for possible implementation. Acts as a liaison to other departments regarding laboratory specialties. Responsible for ensuring the department meets all regulatory requirements. Coordinates equipment and instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration programs. Oversees quality control and ensures compliance with rules and regulations of regulatory agencies. Manages staffing to ensure coverage and addresses personnel needs. Plans and conducts training programs for medical technicians and technologist students. Oversees quality control and preventive maintenance activities for the assigned section. Maintains all sectional quality control records. Ensures technological and scientific accuracy of quality assurance tests and procedures. Recognizes and addresses quality assurance concerns by initiating reports and conferring with medical staff on laboratory findings. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
