About the Position

Job Title: Cath Lab Technologist Profession: Cath Lab Technologist Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, Fluoro Must-Have: Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab required. EP lab experience preferred for travelers. Travel experience preferred. Description: Unit consists of Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology. There are three suites in the unit. Average number of cases per day is 8-12. Electronics Medical Record system used is Cerner. Techs can have RCIS or ARRT certification based on staffing needs. Charge Nurse is available, and a supervisor is on call after hours. Call is required on weekends, every other weekend. Weekend call runs from 3:30 PM on Friday to 7 AM on Monday. Response time for call is 30 minutes. The call team consists of one nurse and two technologists. Holiday call is also required, and working on holidays is optional. Scrub color is provided. Equipment includes Philips telemetry and ventilators. Shifts are 8-hour days and are self-scheduled from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Floating between Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, and Electrophysiology Lab may be necessary. Floor specific orientation typically lasts one week. Common procedures in Interventional Radiology include venous placement, port-a-cath, fistula, biliary tube, neph tube, and IVC filter. Common procedures in the Cath Lab include left and right heart catheterizations, STEMIs, ICDs, pacemakers, carotid interventions, and peripheral interventions. Common procedures in the Electrophysiology Lab include ablations and device placements. A response time of 30 minutes is expected for calls during weekdays as well. The team structure includes one nurse and two techs during evening weekday call.
