About the Position
Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: Saturday & Sunday 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology required; less than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: ARRT-R - ARRT Radiography; ARRT-CT - ARRT Computed Tomography Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor Must-Have: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Exhibits excellent communication skills for frequent verbal and written interactions with patients and staff. Ability to function independently and under pressure while participating in a team environment. Competent in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection. Detail-oriented with the capacity to effectively multitask throughout the work shift. Description: Assists in providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to established procedures. Possesses knowledge and ability to safely obtain quality diagnostic studies. Performs a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative. Sets up equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician orders for procedures and obtains complete clinical histories. Gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows procedures for the administration of contrast media to minimize patient discomfort and risk. Ensures proper patient identification and appropriate use of markers. Reviews images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and assists in the restocking of medical supplies. Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations for necessary physician intervention. Prioritizes and organizes schedule and time effectively to accomplish required activities. Demonstrates proficiency with equipment operation and technique adjustment to minimize radiation exposure. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental staff as needed. Communicates purpose and nature of exams clearly to patients to minimize anxiety. Ensures that all patient questions and concerns are adequately addressed. Completes mandatory education and maintains competency with venipuncture. Produces acceptable imaging results and ensures equipment functionality prior to use. Restocks supplies and maintains department cleanliness. Transports and positions patients as needed and assists with procedures. Maintains productivity and communicates effectively with supervisors on all responsibilities. Assists colleagues willingly and performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all applicable policies, protocols, and standards of practice.
