About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: RRT Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: Temporary Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RRT license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP required if NICU trained Must-Have: - Certification as RRT (CRT not accepted) - Minimum two years of experience as an RRT - Must reside 100+ miles from the workplace Description: Position Description: Treatments per day include 5-6 ventilators and 35 treatments in 12 hours. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS; NRP is needed for NICU experience. Types of patients include adults, pediatrics, and neonates (if NICU trained). Attendance at all deliveries and c-sections is required. Areas covered include inpatient units and a freestanding emergency room. Experience of 2 years is acceptable for first-time travelers. Job duties include drawing and analyzing ABGs, administering treatments, and adjusting ventilator settings. Travelers are not required to intubate independently but must be able to assist. An intensivist is present in-house 24/7. A Charge RRT is available on each shift. Travelers will not be alone in the main hospital but may be the only RT in the freestanding emergency room. Equipment used includes Vent-Avea, Hamilton C1, Bipap-V60, EV300, and HiFlow-Aerovo 2. Zoll ventilators are available for backup. Glidescope and Glidescope-GO are used for intubation assistance. Shifts typically start at 6 AM or 6 PM. A block schedule is not guaranteed, but accommodations may be made. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend. Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays. Call or standby call requirements may apply. Travelers may float to the freestanding emergency room as needed.
