About the Position

Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Mammography Tech Specialty: Mammography Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 Hours Experience: Preferred experience as a Mammography Technologist License: Required Radiologic Tech (RT) and Mammography Technologist in California. Certifications: Required: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography (ARRT-R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Mammography (ARRT-M) - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor Preferred: - Fluoroscopy license - Venipuncture certification Must-Have: - Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology Description: This role involves performing specialized examinations of the breast to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. The technologist executes all required procedures while operating specialized equipment. They act as a competent clinician providing clinical care in a skilled and effective manner. This includes utilizing appropriate technical and decision-making skills. Responsibilities include educating patients regarding the exam while ensuring privacy and comfort. The role follows infection control and safety guidelines. Diagnostic or screening mammograms are performed as specified. Preparation and assistance to the Radiologist during intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies, is required. High-quality films are produced for evaluation by the Radiologist, with appropriate documentation completed. Obtaining pertinent patient information and disseminating subsequent preparation instructions is part of the job. The technologist will escalate questions, problems, and significant challenges to more senior staff for guidance or expertise. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.
