About the Position
Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician Profession: Ophthalmology Specialty: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 1 year of experience required License: Current license required Certifications: BLS, COA Must-Have: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Description: Locals accepted within 75 miles. Uncertified candidates will be considered. An interview is required. Previous charge experience is preferred. Understanding of patient ratios is beneficial. Experience with charting systems is necessary. Candidates should be familiar with the specific charting system. Experience with outpatient clinic settings is preferred. Skills in A-scans, Applanation tonometry, and diagnostic exams are essential. Candidates must assist ophthalmologists during examinations and surgeries. Preparation of patients for exams and surgeries is expected. Knowledge in equipment calibration and maintenance is required. Candidates should explain discharge instructions to patients. Obtaining and recording medical history and vital signs is necessary. Familiarity with patient education regarding ocular medications is important. The role involves performing eye irrigation and measuring intraocular pressure. Candidates will be expected to document and file patient information accurately. Ensuring adherence to safety and infection control protocols is essential. Strong communication skills are required for patient interaction. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify anomalies of eye diseases or injuries. Commitment to providing high-quality patient care is essential.
