About the Position
Shift: Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm Description: As an Audiologist you will apply the principles of hearing science and audiology to formulate an Independent Medical Opinion (IMO) and/or independent medical exam for a population of soldiers. The audiologist's scope of practice is to provide a professional opinion on the severity of the hearing problem, the diagnosis, the causation, and assessing the probability that the hearing problem is related to military service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for administering and interpreting a variety of tests to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, the site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and conduct medical record reviews of past audiograms and documents to determine the likely cause of the hearing loss, and to state the prognosis and address the issues of hearing loss and tinnitus. Operates computerized programs and utilizes application software and databases in order to enter, modify, and access information into/from electronic medical records, and utilizing report writing formats. Maintains patient confidentiality with written and verbal information per HIPAA. Responsible for conducting otoscopic examinations, cerumen management, and calibration checks of audiometric equipment. Lead paraprofessional staff training for Audiology specific skills and certifications as required by all LOB. Completion of Veterans Benefits Administration Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs). Education and/or Experience: (includes certificate & licenses) A Doctorate Degree in Audiology (Au. D) from an accredited college or university is required. 2-3 years of clinic practice experience. Currently licensed Audiologist in state employed and license shall be unrestricted. American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and/or American Academy of Audiology (AAA) certification prior to hire. Qualifications: Required: Masters or better in Audiology. Licenses & Certifications Preferred: American Acad of Audiologist
