The Environmental Services (EVS) Staff Member will be expected to provide a clean and safe environment at all times while observing safe practices, infection control measures, customer service standards and departmental policies as listed, but not limited to this job description. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean environment in the surgical area. Other duties as assigned. Uses proper cleaning techniques, proper and consistent vacuuming, and touch point sanitizing. After each surgical procedure, re-establishes a safe, clean environment according to AORN Standards. Terminally cleans surgical and invasive procedure rooms and scrub/utility rooms daily. Uses proper chemicals at correct dilutions in correctly labeled containers. Performs special project activities such as wall washing, curtain hanging, window and furniture cleaning as needed.Cleans all areas and equipment in the surgical setting according to an established schedule. Maintains equipment and carts in a clean, working condition at all times. Keeps all equipment reservoirs purged and cleaned; keeps vacuum parts intact and in place; carts cleaned, stocked, and organized; waste carts maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. Uses micro-fiber cleaning cloths/mops per instruction; returns all cloths/ mops at end of shift. Cleans, organizes, and maintains all holding areas, equipment storage rooms, supply closets and EVS use areas at all times. Operate floor burnishers properly as evidenced by high gloss shine on floors, no burr or swirl marks and carpets free of debris with no excess water. Demonstrates proper use of communication systems - phones, pagers and radios as evidenced by proper communication response, returning pages, keeping radio responses brief, and not using radio at full volume in patient care areas.
