Participate as a team member by performing additional assignments when workload or area of specialty requires, as requested by the team. * Responsible and accountable for individual practice, performs duties under the direct supervision of the registered nurse circulator and, when applicable, appropriately delegates and supervises tasks to provide optimum patient care. * Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, unit staff, business office, and medical records) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve. Travel Surg Tech - $2,036 per week in Ellsworth, ME - Summary: * Certified Surgical Tech work under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. * Reports to Unit Supervisor and or RN in Charge. Duties and Responsibilities: * Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. * Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. * Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. * Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. * Scrubs, gown up and glove up. * Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. * Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. * Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. * Helps in draping sterile field. * Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure. * Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. * Prepares sterile dressings. * Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. * Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room. * Assists in prepping room for the next patient. Education & Experience Requirements: * Surgical technologists graduate from surgical technology programs accredited through ARC/STSA and or institutions accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE). * Current and active certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist,Minimum of one year surgical tech experiences.
