Phlebotomist - Specialty: LSA Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 730am- 6pm Pay $18-$21/hr Job Description: Precisely follows the LSA workflow to coordinate the collection, processing and shipment of Blood, UDT, OFT, and other body fluids specimens to the laboratory, ensuring all specimens are collected accurately and on time. Provides a specimen collection device and instruction to patients selected and/or identified by authorized practice staff on how to provide urine and/or oral fluid specimens. Observe urine collection for Millennium Health specimens, when required. Accurately complete paper or electronic test requisitions, to include patient demographics and billing information, collecting copies of patient insurance cards while ensuring all MH requisition forms and/or Intellium orders adhere to all HIPAA requirements and expectations of confidentiality. Prepares specimen with proper labeling and requisition forms, packaging the specimens into bags for shipping. Coordinate with courier services for pickup of specimens; may drop off specimens at UPS/FedEx, when applicable. Provides patient reports generated by laboratory to the practice and assists customer by facilitating inquiries to the Laboratory and/or Customer Service team. Performs audits on established internal processes including LSA adherence to workflow, compliance guidelines and management of practice equipment. Documents audit results and reports all findings to the appropriate department for resolution. Provides support for the creation, revision and maintenance of LSA workflow process. Order supplies (requisition forms, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.) and maintain inventory at the practice to ensure sufficient collection supplies are available for testing. Assist in resolving specimen issues with missing/incomplete billing or patient information in Intellium, if required. When permitted, utilizes the practice’s EMR system to obtain patient demographics and to print or upload reports. Effectively communicates with Supervisor and collaborates and supports internal customers and stakeholders. Complete training modules, audit requirements and other necessary documents and materials by the deadline. Regular and reliable attendance with dependable transportation is a requirement of this position. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a medical facility AND/OR a customer service-related position is preferred. Medical insurance/billing and/or familiarity with medications/diagnostic codes is a plus. Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Flexibility to change work hours according to business needs. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow directions. Works independently and with limited supervision. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Intermediate computer/smart phone skills. Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license in the state in which you are employed. Understand the importance of Compliance and the adherence to following policies and procedures in a regulated environment. Understands the need for sensitivity, confidentiality and discretion while dealing with all aspects of patient care.
