Troubleshoot and report equipment problems/issues to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. * Monitor patient response to dialysis and report any unusual findings or issues to the nurse supervisor. * Assist with patients prior to dialysis including: vital signs, weight, general condition and any special patient problems or issues. * Provide basic care for and knowledge of use of the dialysis access. * Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, unit staff, business office, and medical records) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve. Travel Dialysis Tech - $1,277 per week in Poulsbo, WA - Weekly Pay Range - $1150 To $1277 Summary : * Dialysis technicians are medical specialists trained in the operation of a dialysis machine. * Their primary duties include monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment, ensuring usage of the machine is safe and secure, and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as required. * Reports to the Supervisor of the Unit. Duties and Responsibilities: * Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. * Weighs patient and takes vital signs before, during and after treatment ? * Sets up dialysis machines in readiness for therapy and breaks machine down after therapy based on company protocol. * Follow established safety and infection control precautions, policies and procedure. * Perform catheter care under the direction of a registered nurse. * Cannulate effectively as per protocol and under the supervision of a nurse ? * Collects information for the charge nurse during patient assessment and evaluation ? * Collects Pre and Post dialysis blood samples. * Spins blood sample before temporary cold storage. * Keeps work area clean. * Performs monthly drain maintenance. * Collects water samples for testing as needed. * Trouble-shoots machine problems as needed. * Documents vital signs and machine pressures as per protocol. * Treat patients and families with respect. Dialysis Tech Job Description: Education & Experience Requirements: * Must complete a training program that is approved by the medical director and governing body, under the direction of a registered nurse, focused on the operation of kidney dialysis equipment and machines, providing direct patient care, and communication and interpersonal skills, including patient sensitivity training and care of difficult patients. * One year of current Dialysis Tech experience is required. * Current AHA BLS.
